About Us

The mission of the Volunteer Resource Center of Santa Clarita Valley is to connect the nonprofit sector, businesses, and residents of Santa Clarita through advocacy, education, volunteerism, and philanthropy, thereby helping our community help itself.

The Volunteer Resource Center of SCV is dedicated to building bridges between local community service organizations, businesses and residents so that they can work together to make the Santa Clarita Valley a better place to live, work and thrive.  The Resource Center provides training and resources to build the capacity of nonprofit, community service organizations to better serve the needs of our community.  We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and nonprofit management within our own organization as a model for our nonprofit clients.  Through our program and outreach, we provide the links for businesses and residents to be part of "helping the community help itself."

The Volunteer Resource Center of SCV was founded in 1997 through a collaboration between the City of Santa Clarita, Newhall Land, and United Way.  The Center was created based on the results of a Community Needs and Assets Assessment, which confirmed the need for a centralized organization and physical facility to support and assist nonprofit, community groups, volunteers, youth, and business.  The Center is an independent 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation.
